The Calorie Issue

It's important to understand that calories should not be our main focus when deciding on food consumption. Just because a candy bar is a similar number of calories as something like quinoa doesn't mean it will affect our body the same. Someone told me recently they would rather "waste" the calories they consume on something yummy like candy than food that's highly caloric like quinoa. Here is the problem with that theory, our body needs PROPER nutrients. That sugary candy bar isn't going to properly feed us. Our body doesn't function as well off of a sugary treat. Not saying everyone loves or has to love quinoa but it is a perfect example as it's a high calorie food. We need to ask ourselves what can we eat that will properly fuel our bodies. Also, substituting a meal for a dessert because it would be the same calorie intake doesn't mean it's a good option. Like I said already we need proper nutrients like proteins, veggies and carbs in our meals in order to treat our bodies with respect. Yes, we can cheat and have dessert at times but a sugary dessert is not a meal replacement. Our body is a temple that we have one chance at taking care of. Why not treat it right? It sure will make us feel better and be more energized. It puts me in a better mood when know I am eating right. We can do this together, challenge yourself this coming week to choose health and cut down on sugars.
